Cultivating the next generation of change makers in Los Angeles.
Legacy Academy is a social-justice centered community where students discover their power through rigorous academics and community-rooted action.
Mission & Vision
We are building a school, a teacher academy, and a community center.
Our Mission
We develop spaces and resources that serve entire school communities with high standards of practice and authentic care. Our students deserve more than basic needs met; they deserve the support and resources to engage fully with their education and become self-actualized. Our academic program centers often silenced narratives and truths, embracing a pluralistic culture that matches our students' diverse identities and journeys. Legacy Academy is an educational lab where educators work toward academic excellence and student-centered practice they can carry into any institution.
Our Vision
We are a collective of transformative educators united in our drive to freedom-dream and reimagine schooling. We believe education is a catalyst for profound societal and generational change, and that this change comes through radical education and trauma-informed practices. Our commitment is rooted in love, joy, freedom, sustainability, remembrance, and justice. We strive to continue the work of those who came before us by inspiring and lifting those who will come after.
Legacy Student Academy
Open a queer-forward TK-12 independent school serving students whose identities are most marginalized in Los Angeles: students of color, those impacted by economic hardship, those who have experienced homelessness, and youth in the foster care system.
Legacy Teacher Academy
Create a training and support space for educators to grow and expand their minds and souls so they can best serve their students in any context.
Explore the Educator Academy →Legacy Community Center
Open a community center that houses the needs of students and their families, including housing, medical, legal, and healthy food resources.
Our Founders
Built by educators, organizers, and neighbors.
Legacy Academy began around a kitchen table — a small team of Los Angeles educators imagining a school where justice, healing, and rigorous learning belong to the same classroom.
